5 power plant workers taken to hospital over chemical leak, officials say


TOMSON, TX – Dozens of employees were assessed by medical professionals following a chemical leak that left two people in critical condition on Thursday.

According to Fort Bend County officials, the leak occurred at the WA Parish Power Plant in the 2500 block of Yu Jones Road.

Preliminary Details State employees said they were exposed to an unknown chemical, initially thought to be ammonia, however, police are working to confirm this information.

Authorities said five people had to be decontaminated and taken to hospital, two of them in critical condition.

The 50 additional employees were doing well, however, some reported having difficulty breathing, scratchy throats and dizziness.

Doctors were on the scene to assess the staff.
