CAMDEN — Gardener and herbalist Denise DeSpirito will host an outdoor presentation titled “The Fruits and Roots of Autumn” on Tuesday, September 27 at noon at the Merryspring Nature Center.
In this outdoor talk, DeSpirito will reflect on the changing seasons and the herbs that can be used to support the body during this time of year.
This program will focus on the medicinal properties of the fruits and roots of some commonly found plants. After the lecture portion of this program, DeSpirito will lead the group into the Merryspring Herb Garden to demonstrate how to dig up, store and prepare herb roots for use throughout the winter.
DeSpirito is a gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs throughout the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island.
She is currently the garden manager at Merryspring.

The cost for this program is $5 for the general public, with free admission for Merryspring members. No pre-registration is required for this event.
