Garden City Center also has some more exciting restaurants on the way. The first is Sweetgreen, an extremely popular chain that serves delicious and customizable salads.

This has been a top request from our customers for a long time, and we are thrilled to be able to provide a fast, casual and healthy dining experience at GCC! says Faith Lockhart, Marketing Manager of Garden City.

The other is Kaffeology, a local coffee blending and mixology franchise (hence its name) in Newport County, known for its over-the-top milkshakes, trendy aesthetic, and support for women-owned businesses. The original concept came to owner Andreea Marin — who was born in Romania but grew up in Rhode Island — during a pretty stormy time in her life.

“I had moved to Orlando, Florida for a while and was planning on opening a cafe there, but Hurricane Irma hit and I was evacuated home,” says- she. “While I was here I ended up finding the location of my first store [in Newport] – it was originally a subway. I printed my business plan out of a Staples, sat down with the owner, and he was like, “When you’re ready.” I think that would be great.

She returned to Florida to collect her belongings and was back in the Ocean State just two months later, ready to begin. The first Kaffeology debuted to the applause of locals in 2018, and by 2020 a second open location had opened in Portsmouth. The new Garden City Center location, which is targeting an early 2023 launch, is just the latest in a series of plans to expand Kaffeology’s reach.

The new Kaffeology will also introduce a new concept for the franchise, acting as a cafe by day before transforming into a tapas bar by night.

“Everything is also made from scratch. We will have freshly baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches with fresh cracked eggs…even our coffee syrups are homemade. We will also have colorful soufflé pancakes, which will be very cute,” says Marin. “And the menu will be seasonal, so we’ll have a few staples, but a lot of it will be on rotation. But, of course, we’ll still have our overdone milkshakes.

For the evening menu, Marin offers mini bites like pizzettas and charcuterie boards as well as creative cocktails and local beer and wine offerings.

Like the other locations, however, the new location will also sell products from women-owned businesses, both local and national.

“So whether you come to our store for a sandwich, coffee, or just water, or buy one of these beautiful retail items, your money will go towards helping a woman’s dream. to come true. Our goal and mission is to support women around the world,” she says.
