Garden City swears in new police officer

GARDEN CITY, NY – On December 15, Mayor Cosmo Veneziale swore in the new officer to join the ranks of the Garden City Police Department, Rodolfo Sulmonte, who is currently assigned to the Nassau County Police Academy.

Sulmonte was born in Queens and raised in Levittown. He attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated from Island Trees High School in 2010.

After high school, he played professional hockey in the Ontario Hockey League and attended 2010 Islanders rookie camp. After five years in professional hockey, he attended and graduated from Nassau Community Middle school. While there, he also began coaching Level 1 U16 and U18 hockey for the PAL Junior Islanders. He held this position for six years while pursuing a career in law enforcement.

β€œThe qualities Rodolfo learned playing professional hockey and teaching young children should serve him well working for a community-oriented police department such as the Garden City Police Department,” Commissioner Kenneth Jackson said. .
