One of Laredo's Most Historic Homes Hosts 'Jazz in the Garden'

Rainy skies didn’t stop Laredo residents from enjoying a quiet Tuesday night of jazz in the garden of the historic Casa Ortiz.

The downtown house, one of the oldest on record in Laredo history, hosted a Latin jazz night at its outdoor space Tuesday night. Cuban-Mexican Latin jazz band Blue Fussion Band performed for the locals in attendance, playing into the night in the outdoor space.

The house, which is on historic Zaragoza Street, was designated a Texas Historic Landmark in 1964. It was built between 1829 and 1830. It is well known for its impressive garden and impressive view of the Rio Grande.

The event was presented by the Webb County Historical Commission and the Laredo Cultural District. Sponsors for the event included the Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Laredo, Port Authority of Laredo, and Webb County.
