About this blog: I have been drawn to food for good and bad reasons for many years. From eating disorder to east coast culinary school, food has been my passion, my profession and my enemy. I was a sugar addict, vegetarian for 17 years, food and environmental pioneer, macrobiotic, Master Cleanser, Ayurvedic, and officially designated a health nut or party girl (depending on the year). Professionally, I’ve worn many hats in the industry, including: Line Cook, Entrepreneur, Food Coach, Caterer, Product Developer, Restaurant Critic, Culinary School Teacher, Wellness Educator in business, food cooperative clerk, author and even Cirque-du-Soleil, the main popcorn dealer! For years I’ve managed an outdoor kitchen, deep in the bear-infested woods of Tahoe, as well as for hospitals (the dirtiest kitchen I’ve ever worked in?), events I could never remember. Yet I continue to discover. In fact, I adapt every day to new lessons learned from teachers, clients and students. However, there is one dietary truth that I now hold to be sacrosanct: eaters are driven by pleasure. So no matter what we’re discussing here – recipes or restaurants, politics or food deals, local events, food as art, or even as God, I’ll always come from a high vibe party perspective . Oh, I still want to change the world with good, tasty food, but know in my heart, “If it’s not fun, it’s not doing!” So, you want to come to the Food Party? By the way, it’s a potluck. (To hide)

We’re interrupting our regular schedule to bring you something super fun from the hood.
Has anyone been here? 1199 El Camino Real, San Bruno
OMG I was looking for gas at 280/380 when a Poutine eating dinosaur jumps out of nowhere – El Camino Real at Sneath Lane across from Chase.
Turns out this station has a lot more than gas and shriveled hot dogs around metal rollers. Citizens, meet the future! Presentation Planet Hangry – The first herbal market in North America.
A Shell station with affordable petrol (worth posting on its own) offering a free oat milk service cone with every fill up!
Always the same crappy gas station food, just a little less crappy and 100% veg. Organic potato chips and faux egg breakfast sandwiches in a hot box.
Vegan buffalo wings and “chicken” taquitos in the freezer.
Or maybe it’s jerky you crave?
Even the car wash has a soul.
Don’t forget your free ice cream on the way out. 🙂
